I would contact manufacturer and ask whether it is problem to identify SD card ID on device? But it may be harder nut to crack than just push on regular support. You will need to have a couple of more deep in technical terminology dictionary words handy ;)

There seem to be some issues with certain brands of micro-sd card above 1gb on the ipaq 514. The problem is that some users have no problems with some sanddisk 2gb and kingston 2gb cards but others have lots of problems ?

Could this be related Sygic? Have you tried sticking some of the maps on a different brand of card and seeing if the problem is repeated?

Yoni, have you tried the card inside an htc710? This is (i think) the same as the Orange spv e650. If you can try it on that device and also try putting the software on another WM6 smartfone we could narrow it down a bit.

That is true but perhaps the architecture of a particular manufacturers SD card is the problem? Kingston and Sandisk get SD cards made for them most likely in one of a number of factories in taiwan so there is a fair chance that slightly different cards could be making an appearance under the same product label.

What would be helpful is if we could confirm that ALL hp514 and all htc s710 (inc the orange and vodafone varieties) were unable to run the maps- Yoni do you not have a couple in the returns section you could pilfer to check?

I actually think it is more likely to be down to firmware versions on the phones, could the E650 users please list which versions they have installed?

When I last spoke to Sygic on Friday they asked me to upgrade the Rom on my phone to the latest from the Orange website, as an update was released in May 08.

I did this over the weekend, but it made no difference, I have emailed them back and am still waiting for a reply.

burystreet, have you ever considered swapping onto WM 6.1. As far as I understand this if device cannot give back necessary ID, why not upgrading to newer OS version?

It is a pity orange cannot say anything more on this one as it is very strange that HTC Vox remake under Orange flag is not HTC Vox anymore :( I have never heard of any troubles with reading IDs on HTC at all.

HTC s710 isn't it? I asked if Yoni could try it on one they had at Expansys but the question was sidestepped. Now getting to the stage where i no longer wish to fund Expansys £40 for a useless piece of plastic !!!!!

The question was not sidestepped, I don't have an s710 to try it with.

And I am still chasing for a solution.
