have you screwdriver at home? If yes, then disassemble your D836 phone and compare the electronics elements with the elements from D830 schematics - you can download it in the net (i have postet bevore a link)..
You cann compare the manual too (download it from samsung official site). If the parts are the same, then you are 100 % sure, you can flash to the D836 the D830 Firmware. Manuals should be the same.
But i can tell you yet that the parts are the same:))

Si pudieramos backupear el firm original que trae (D836VEFI2) no habria problema en testear eso de la banda.
(mas allá de perder el idioma o el T9 en español ... que locura seria escribir sin eso)

el programa seria el optiflash, y hay un firmware editor .... de locos...

Esatmos de acuerdo en que el firmware que queremos probar seria http://files.to/get/329271/29705/D830XEFH3.zip , (me cuesta bajarlo, no se porqué se corta la bajada y queda truncado)

En fin.... la clave seria poder backupearlo el original por las dudas.... Probé un rato con el optiflash y no pude backupear... creo que no encontré el com adecuado... hay varias instrucciones deberia poderse pero es mucho mas "tricky" de lo que deberia.... en fin... no tengo mucho tiempo disponible mañana probaré otro rato

El maldito teléfono es alucinante... el mejor screen que vi y el magnesio al tacto es mejor que metal, increible... ni que hablar el grosor de 9.9.....lo que me gustaria es que el display chico mantuviera el reloj prendido.
Veamos que pasa...

Thanks for the links and tools, I downloaded your tools compilations, amazing how much staff there (service manuals!, cheat codes)

D836 is the same as D830, it''s like international model, only changes the firmware (thus the band)
I spent half an hour (don´t have too much time) trying to MAKE A BACKUP using optiflash but I could not.

When I can do this, I will try others !!!

Creo que esa es la cuestión, sabiendo hacer el backup, podremos hacer chanchadas con el phono. Lo bueno es que sólo es necesario el cable USB retail, y no un Firmware-Flash-USB-Cable como en otros modelos.

Pues al parecer nadie ha podido instalarle el firmware. O seria cuestión de llevarlo a la fabrica de Samsung para ver que me dice.

Si, no parece fácil....(o no tan fácil como otros aparatos) creo que se debe a que al no estar tan difundido el modelo nadie a llegado (aún) a la solución.
No hablo demasiado... media hora por dia me da 3 dias de bateria.
Si lo cargas todas las noches no deberia dar problema.
Todavia no le he cargado videos y música para usar de una forma extensiva, calculo que ahi me va a durar muy poco....seria una lástima.

el D836 (o D830) está muy bueno....sinceramente es un placer de tener en la mano.... prefiero quedarme con él aunque tenga contras.... la palabra creo que es "estilo"
el fin de semana voy a tratar de buscar algo mas pero no me gusta gastar demasiado tiempo en ello... :)

Hola a todos, he revisado los foros y he bajado los tools asi como las versiones de firmware, pero aun no me he decidido a flashear el phone (D836), ya que me gustaria conservar un backup (con Optiflash), pero me marca varios errores, es un relajo para encontrar los puertos (a mi me funciona solo el com 6 ), y comienza a leer pero al intentar leer las regiones, y me manda el siguiente error,

estoy seguro que la regue en algo pero ustedes saben porque?? porque ya intente agregar las regiones de lectura sugeridas y manda el mismo error.

We with the same problem man, can´t backup the exisiting firmware neither.

Amigo, tenemos el mismo problema porque yo tampoco pude hacer el backup, nunca habia visto a un hardware usb tener que encontrarle los puertos. Ojalá surja una forma mas fácil de hacerlo

I have D836 too, same as D830 but international model (different languages on firmware and who knows what else differs)

amigo, vi algo curioso para setear el puerto del phone:

Utilizo el Optiflash, y lo conecto al cable sin encender, al encenderlo normal (power nada mas) queda conectado en el port com9.

Mientras que cuando lo enciendo dejando presionada la tecla * ,y luego presiono el power, se conecta al puerto Com6, y ahi es donde reconoce el Optiflash el phone y comienza el proceso de Backup.

(esto lo revise viendo simultaneamente el Optiflash y el device Manager de Windows para ver que puertos se activan cuando conecto el Phone)

Sin embargo, comienza a leer el phone, y llega un momento en donde me manda un error sobre los secores de la memoria que dbe leer y ahi ya no se que pasa!

Intentalo y si tu sabes que regiones de la memoria del cel debe leer el Optiflash, tal vez podamos hacer el backup de estos Cels!!!

friend, I saw something peculiar to set the port of the phone: I use the Optiflash, and I connect it to the cable without power on, when i only press the key of power on, the Optiflash & Windows is connected in port com9.

But when I power on leaving pressed the key *, soon I press the key of power on, it is connected to the Com6 port, and then is where phone recognizes the Optiflash and begins the process of Backup.

(this reviews seeing it syncronising the Optiflash and the device Manager of Windows, to see that ports are activate when I connect the Phone in this diferents modes)

Now, it begins to read the phone, and it starting to make the backup, but it fails, because the read regions are wrong, and make the next error:

Data outside flash memory:
0x00000000 - 0x1fffffff
Error code: ERR_RANGE_OUTSIDE_FLASH
Sorry, an error has occured ! (ERR_RANGE_OUTSIDE_FLASH)

Please if you know about an answer or know how to make the backup at this part of the process, please let me know.

hi everyone, i have problems with the flashing of the d836 with a d830 firmware, cause i have very errors on the Optiflahs log, it says "VerifyData: Detected difference (0x05d5f1f0 != 0x8da86049)" for athousand times, then after the flah yhe only thing that i see is the start image of sdh d830, but the phone is reseting and resenting, and the screen is flashing, then i think thats really bad, anyone say anything about that, and if anybody know about a link of d836 firmware or can share a copy, aprreciate very much, cause after the flashing i tried to go back and, my cel phone is dead, (of course, i know that the backup i made is with errors)

Please help the only thing that i want is to go back to life my cel!!!

Entonces es como temíamos: el Flash de D830 es incompatible con el D836, y encima Optiflash no lo levanta correctamente...

Hope we can find a solution fast!! I dare not attempting anything yet, since I could void the warranty. I''d rather wait until it''s gone, since by then the phone will have to be taken to the service anyway.

I have downloaded all the things you say i need, it is because I wan''t danish language on my phone, and the firmware you have linked to seems to have it, but how do I upload it??

I tryed with optiflash, but it said power up the phone. But it was on???

Yes, I agree with you Boolean, it''s worthless to try an upgrade that can end in an useless phone. Let''s just use it as it comes...anyway.... si le pongo jueguitos al final será solo para perder el tiempo :)

Recién recibí un correo de Samsung después de enviarles un e-mail con algunas preguntas acerca del teléfono (Duración de batería y Firmware) a lo que me respondieron:

Le comento que el equipo en un uso normal le va a durar aproximadamente 2 días la pila, sobre la actualización del firmaware no se puede realizar en estos equipos ya que no es un problema del equipo, es algo normal, esto de la actualizacion fue en el modelo t809 el cual si tenia problemas la batería pero en este modelo que usted tiene no es problema es algo normal del equipo.

Pues al parecer ya no hay mas que hacer. Y al parecer este problema es "exclusivo" del D836 (D830), ya que ni el D900 ni el T519 presentan este tipo de problemas.

Aun así, este equipo es hermoso!!!

I just bought D830 a week ago, and it''s kinda disappointing me.. the sound is so small, even i already set to the maximum level, and i even can''t set the ringtone and vibrate together. i only can choose one of it.. is there any way to change or upgrade it? and how to upgrade the firmware and where to download??

Yhea man, i think everybody that has this cellphone is disappointing too, the fimware is in the first topic, but there`s any chance to upgrade it LOL.

I sent an e-mail to Samsung asking some questions like yours, and they just told me that there`s any way to upgrade the firmware.

if you want a tip, change your phone for a SGH-D900 =) (Even the batery life sucks too =( )
